About the event
The N.E.W. Workshop is an exciting one-day program for female sophomore high school students interested in spending the day exploring nontraditional employment for women. During this workshop, students will be introduced to a variety of industries, meet female leaders, and get hands-on experience. Information presented will include education and training, the typical workday, work environment, wage information, employment forecast, and advantages for women in these occupations.
The purpose of this workshop is to expand career possibilities for young women to consider and pursue. Students will participate in small group discussions with current female leaders and get hands-on experience through career simulation activities. Students will also hear from our keynote speaker and a small panel featuring local female leaders. Students will meet, listen to stories of work and life experiences, and ask questions to help with their future education and career plans.
